Anyone working in the current world (i.e., at a computer) may, in my opinion, benefit from some sort of optical relief. My eyes feel drained, strained, and occasionally sensitive on a daily basis. This results in frequent headaches as well, which are brought on by a mix of the aforementioned screen usage, side effects from my antidepressants, and a few other medical conditions. So the thought of Therabody’s Smart Goggles , a high-tech eye mask that could help me sleep, massage my eyes, and relieve some of the strain that has settled permanently in my face, sounded immensely alluring.

KEY FEATURES OF THERABODY SMART GOGGLES How I conducted the experiment: I frequently wear my Smart Goggles while sleeping as well as during the day. It totally filters out light, has relaxing vibration and massage capabilities, and makes me put my phone and other electronic devices away. I also take this on occasion during the course of the working day when my eyes begin to feel worn out from staring at screens. Perfect for: Anyone who struggles to switch off from their phone, has difficulties falling asleep, is prone to headaches, gets technology eye fatigue, enjoys sound therapy, or clenches their jaw. What you’ll love: Although the three modalities (Focus, SmartRelax, and Sleep) have recommended usage, they are all excellent and flexible, allowing you to find your own rhythm or choice. The heat and vibration features each have three settings, allowing you to customize or disable them as you see fit. Key features include speakers for Bluetooth syncing with TheraMind app, vibration, air compression massage, and heat. A REVIEW OF THERABODY SMART GOGGLES I want to start by stating that I haven’t used the TheraMind sound-therapy feature a lot because I’m not really a noise machine sort of person. There is a slight mechanical whirring sound that the goggles make when they are worn as well, which I really find to be rather contemplative and soothing. Regardless, I believe the mask is pricey enough on its own given the extra features.

I utilize all three modes, but my favorites are Focus and Sleep. The former is really lovely for a work break in the midst of the day. I put on Smart Goggles and remain still for a while as my temples and under-eye area are heated and massaged. I feel refreshed when I come back to my screen, and over time, consistent use makes my eyes less fatigued overall.

I now employ the excellent Sleep modality on the majority of nights. I either fall asleep while wearing it or I go to that perfect place of heavy eyelid tiredness. I have a similar sensation to when my sore body sinks into a hot bath when vibration, air compression massage, and heat are combined and timed together.

Although the market is already overflowing with high-tech health and beauty products, Therabody’s Smart Goggles is the one that you’ll actually use every day, possibly more than once.
