Canadian Health Digest - Womens Health - Mammaplasty

Mammaplasty in layman's term is called breast reduction. Both men and women can undergo this surgery, but today, mammaplasty is more popular to women. Men only undergo this operation to address a certain condition called gynecomastia. On the other hand, women have different concerns why undergo this operation. Some may want to prevent sagging breasts, while others want to be freed from neck and back pain caused by large breasts. But whatever the reason is, there is only one underlying factor: Women undergoing mammaplasty want to have an improved level of self-confidence, a healthy body, and a better and comfortable lifestyle.

Breast reduction is done by removing fat, tissue, and skin from the breasts. The nipple or areola can also be improved by reshaping it or reducing its size. The overall result of mammaplasty are firmer, smaller, well-shaped breasts that complement the figure and lifestyle most women want to have.

Although breast reduction seems a typical surgery to go through these days, it doesn't mean that it's just an easy operation to handle. It takes time and full knowledge on how breasts should be operated. For when done incorrectly, mammaplasty can adversely affect the life of the patients. Surgeons have to ensure that they are in the right condition to perform the operation and so are their patients to avoid complication and to achieve the objective breast size.

Seen from any angle, mammaplasty is such a delicate matter to go through. But for some women, it could mean a lot to their lives. In most times, health and medical reasons aren't the only things that push women to have mammaplasty, the society has a great contribution to it, too.
