:The more known common breast disease is breast cancer, but it is important to note that there are other disorders affecting women's breasts. To inform women of some of these breast diseases, four breast disorders are described below.
Fibrocystic breast disease refers to painful cysts that contain fluid and expand prior to menstruation. The lumps differ in size, movable, and occurs in both breasts. These can be removed through aspiration, a process using syringe and needle. However, if the aspirated lump is solid, further laboratory exams will be required. Women from 35 to 50 years old are the ones who are often afflicted with this condition.
Fibroadenomas, on the other hand, refers to firm circular growths of glandular and structural tissues. They are harmless, unattached, isolated, and do not cause pain. They usually occur to young women who are in their late teenage years but have not reached mid-twenties.
Meanwhhile, fat necrosis refers to circular, solid lumps caused by destroyed fatty tissues. These growths are painless and usually appear to women who are overweight and have big breasts. Fat necrosis is caused by trauma like hitting the breast, and the skin surrounding the lumps may appear bruised or red. It is advised to see a doctor if this kind of lump is observed.
Now, intraductal papillomas are tiny bumps similar to warts appearing in the mammary ducts in close proximity to the nipple. These growths can cause a nipple to have bloody secretions. Surgery can remove these lumps without altering breast appearance. It is advised that women immediately consult a physician if this condition is observed.
